Why Redoubt?
The Redoubt area is a part of Eastbourne in which we live. It is named for the fortress known as The Redoubt, which was built in 1805 as part of the coastal defences against a possible Napoleonic invasion.
So that’s January over for another year. Onto February now – soon be spring! Actually, apart from a few wet and windy days, the month seems to have been quite calm down here on the coast. We enjoyed several musical treats during January.

We've been to see the latest Coward revival headed for the London stage. We thought it lacked style and spirit - though the version of Madame Arcati offered by Jennifer Saunders is a great comic creation.

Plans to up my work rate and productivity on the fiction side of my life are a major feature of my plans for the next few months as we enter the new decade.

We’ve been to see The Lady Vanishes, adapted from the screenplay of the 1938 Hitchcock film. On the whole, we wished we hadn’t bothered.
