Why Redoubt?
The Redoubt area is a part of Eastbourne in which we live. It is named for the fortress known as The Redoubt, which was built in 1805 as part of the coastal defences against a possible Napoleonic invasion.
By coincidence, we have been to see productions of two of Willy Russell’s smash-hit plays, Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine in the couple of weeks before the coronavirus shutdown.

A reflection on the Metropolitan Opera's astounding production of Handel's early opera Agrippina, which we saw in an utterly compelling live cinema relay.

This February will be memorable for all sorts of reasons, not least the opportunity to see this award-winning 1994 film, which became the first Cuban film to be nominated for an Oscar.

The last week of February saw us taking advantage of our relocation to enjoy three more trips out – a concert, a film and a live opera relay. I’ll discuss the film and the opera in separate posts. This one concerns our visit to the Congress Theatre for a wonderful concert.
