Why Redoubt?
The Redoubt area is a part of Eastbourne in which we live. It is named for the fortress known as The Redoubt, which was built in 1805 as part of the coastal defences against a possible Napoleonic invasion.
October was a difficult month in many ways, and seemed to whizz by. For me, it was bracketed by anniversaries, one of which prompted some dark moments.

This week has been dominated by the sad news of the death of one of our dearest friends, Neil Hitchen.

I have been reflecting on the work of Sir Ronald Harwood, the playwright whose death was announced last week - and in particular the two wonderful plays of his that we saw ten years ago.

In the past, the onset of autumn has often brought change - of school, teacher, form or - latterly - job and home. I've been reflecting on this in what has already been a year of massive upheaval and uncertainty.
