Why Redoubt?
The Redoubt area is a part of Eastbourne in which we live. It is named for the fortress known as The Redoubt, which was built in 1805 as part of the coastal defences against a possible Napoleonic invasion.
A visit to the National Theatre's superb production of the musical Follies in December 2017 prompted me to think about my general view of Stephen Sondheim.

A recent viewing of the 2017 film Darkest Hour prompted me to reflect on other attempts to dramatise events in May 1940, and to wonder whether any of them can truly capture the drama of that tumultuous month.
